In Block Diagram of VI or SubVI we can create the Global Variable.

Follow these steps Right Click in Block Diagram

Function Pallet → Programming → Structure → Global Variable.

Click and Place the Global Variable Icon in Block Diagram.

In block diagram it shows with Globe symbol and Question mark as shown below.

Double click on Global Variable and Save with Name.

Once we place the any objects or variables in that Global Variable we easily access with that object name any part of program or in any Sub VI easily.

Global Variable represents along with Globe Symbol in the Box . We can easily identify as Global Variable

Click on Variable It shows all objects stored in Global Variable we can select which are we want.

Global Variable box color represents data type.

The Cluster array contains the different data type using Cluster name with multiple records with same structure.

To create cluster array.

1.Create the cluster with different data type you want to store or retrieve.

2.Create the array from Control Panel → Modern → Array Matrix, Cluster in front panel.

3.Move the cluster using mouse click, hold and drag towards the array object.

4.Leave when array become active (i.e. array frame become ants running
around the frame)

5.Now see the array constructed. Increase the frame size to see the all
the objects inside the array.

6. The icon become as shown in the diagram in block diagram.

The Cluster is group of different data type objects available in LabVIEW. We can make a club of different data variety for record or structures. It may contain the integer,double and text box,string etc and calling with unique name.

This is most help full in records of table or specifications and parameters with the same structure.

How to Create Cluster ?

In Front panel right click select the Control pallet → Modern → Array Matrix → Cluster and place.

1.Create required objects or data type you have required.

2.For Example Integer,string.

3.Click any object , hold and move towards the cluster you have created.

4.Now Cluster become active as shown in figure.

I.e It looks like ants Running around the frame.

5.Now place the object inside the frame of cluster. Now it is become object of cluster.

6.Do the same procedure for remaining objects.

7.Save the Cluster with the name.

8.From any where of VI you can call the cluster by its name.

9.In block diagram cluster is as shown in the diagram.

How to access objects of Cluster ?

From Block diagram you can access the objects or each element of cluster easily.

1. Right click on block diagram Function pallet → programming → cluster,Class & Variant –> Unbundle by name.

2.Wire the cluster to tool unbundle by name.

3. Now shows element of cluster by name.

4.you can easily access the objects one by one easily.

How to Create SubVI in LabVIEW ?

The SubVI is part program in LabVIEW which is represents the repeatedly calling in various parts of any VI’s. By that making subVI you can create structured program and easy of debugging for further references or extending program.

Steps to create the SubVI

1. Create New VI from file.

2. Create input parameters and output parameters on New VI.

1. Right click the LabVIEW Icon which is available corner of New VI.

2. Choose “Show Connectors” Now Icon become as shown below

3. click show connectors icon the mouse cursor become “wire tool”.

4. Click left side each boxes in the icon and link to input parameters individually and right side boxes output parameters

5. You can go up to maximum 28 Input / output Parameters by selecting different connector symbols available from list.

6. Save the subVI with name which is related to function it is doing.

7. From block diagram any VI right click and choose “select VI”, now choose subVI you have saved from list and place in VI. Connect

8. Connect the input and outputs and run the VI.

9. From block diagram any VI right click and choose “select VI”, now choose subVI you have saved from list and place in VI. Connect

10. Connect the input and outputs and run the VI.

In Block Diagram We can do the program as follows

configure the input terminal as 0,1 shown diagram to the niScope Read (poly).vi.

Select the split Signals from Signal Manipulation Function Pallet.

The first signal represents channel – 0. Second split signal represent channel – 1.

The Order of channel reading is follows how your configured the channels to niScope Read(poly).vi input terminals.

In the VI Block Diagram we can programmatically sets the colors for Text Box Background and text color easily. 

From Function Pallet We can select Programming and Dialog & User Interface  Color Box Constant. Place this icon in your VI block diagram. Click and select color you want and wire to property invoke of particular object you utilized in your program.

We can apply the same procedure for Numeric Controls also.
